Medicinal Marijuana? Are we being censored?

Just got off the phone to my American "friend" Noah who reminds me that prohibition in the States is coming to the beginning of the beginning of the end. And wouldn't you know it, it's true. 13 states have legalised the use of medicinal marijuana, and 14 have ballots pending on the legislation.

Now, this is going to cause a lot of problems for these states.

Their immigration rate is going to soar, with stoners selling all of their platinum PS2 games for a one way ticket to the Emerald Cities. 7-11s are going to take over as the most powerful corporations in the state. Medical centres are going to be innundated with unforseen conditions that necessitate the ingestion of THC. I can hardly wait.

No one is happier to see the Americans go green than I am. They've been so stressed out for so long, these people definitely need some down time. A little bit of Take-Yourself-Less-Seriously instead of Prozac. It is time for a change. If they were honest they'd put Arnie in as Prez and Cheech and Chong as Treasurer and Secretary of State. But we've got a way to go.

My question is why don't we know about this in Australia. Don't see it covered or talked about in mainstream print or TV journalism. Yet we know about Megan Fox. She's often on the front page. I know everything about Fritzl and the NRL, too.

Why isn't the government running to legislate for this the way it ran to Iraq to play with the Big Boys? I'm confused. Are we frightened to lose our reputation as alcoholics? Or is it believed impossible for Australians to become any more apathetic than they already are? Don't know about you but I'm going to invest my last dollar in 7-11 shares if this thing ever blows our way, but only the ones without flourescent lights.
